Who I am

I treat the pain that hasn't responded to anything else.

I'm a physiotherapist and the founder of PACT Physio & Rehab in Miranda. I've been practising since 2010, and for more than 14 years trigger point dry needling has been the centre of how I work.

The obsession started early. Deep in anatomy study at university, I kept coming back to one puzzle: chronic injuries that never seemed to resolve with regular treatment. I was convinced there had to be a better way, and that conviction has shaped everything since, from opening my first practice as a new graduate in the NSW Riverina to founding World Health Webinars, an online education platform built to close the professional development gap for rural clinicians.

Before PACT, I spent a decade inside the workers compensation system as a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant and Senior WHS and Injury Management Advisor. I've sat on every side of the table: treating practitioner, rehab consultant and employer advisor. So whether you're a private client, a workers compensation or CTP patient, or referred under Medicare, I understand the whole picture, not just the sore bit.

The cases I love most are the stubborn ones. The ones that arrive with a thick folder and a long list of things that haven't worked. If you feel like you've tried everything, you're exactly who I built this clinic for.

What I treat

Stubborn, complex and persistent pain.

These are the conditions where trigger point dry needling, paired with movement and strength work, earns its keep.

Chronic neck and shoulder pain

Deep trigger points in the neck and upper traps that keep coming back no matter how much you rub them.

Headaches and migraines

Tension type headaches and migraine patterns with a muscular driver in the neck, jaw and shoulders.

Low back pain

Stubborn low back pain that flares with sitting, lifting or sport and hasn't settled with rest.

Sciatica and referred pain

Pain that travels. Trigger points refer in predictable patterns, often a long way from the source.

Sports injuries

From acute strains to the niggle that won't let you train, lift or run the way you want to.

Jaw pain

TMJ and jaw muscle pain, including the clenching and grinding patterns that feed headaches.

Persistent muscle tightness that hasn't responded to other treatment

The tightness that stretching, massage and foam rolling haven't shifted. This is my favourite referral.

Why dry needling

A very fine needle, in exactly the right spot.

Trigger point dry needling uses a very fine, sterile, single use needle to release tight bands of muscle called trigger points. Nothing is injected. The needle itself does the work, prompting the muscle to twitch, let go and reset. That twitch is the moment most of my patients learn to love.

Trigger points can keep a muscle short, weak and sore long after the original injury has settled, and they refer pain in predictable patterns. That's why a trigger point in your shoulder can feel like a headache, and one in your glute can run down your leg. Needling is one of the most direct ways I know to change that pattern, and I pair it with movement and strength work so the change holds.

If needles make you nervous, you're in good company, and you're exactly why I work the way I do. Everything is explained before it happens, nothing is rushed, and most people describe the sensation as a brief deep ache rather than anything sharp. You stay in control the whole session.

What a session looks like

1
We talk, then I assess
Your history, your pattern of pain, and a hands on assessment to map the trigger points driving it.
2
You get a plain English plan
What I found, what I recommend, and what to expect. Nothing happens before you understand it.
3
Precise needling
Fine, sterile, single use needles into the specific points we mapped. Brief, targeted, purposeful.
4
Movement to make it hold
Simple strength and movement work so the release lasts beyond the treatment table.
